11.10.09 “This technology allows people to have true anonymity online,” said Ulf Diebel, DreamStream’s chief development officer. “Most casual users aren’t aware that their online activities are being monitored by countless entities, including Mozilla and Google.” Corporations regularly monitor, trace and archive the activity of those who use their software or access their Web sites. “The Internet provides a false sense of anonymity,” Dielbel said. “People assume that their private activities are concealed, but this is not the case. Everything from the Web sites you visit to your searches are monitored by others.” This product has been tentatively named DreamStealth. DreamStealth will allow users to privately access a secure, international virtual private network (VPN). Through this VPN, users will be equipped with unique and ever-changing IP addresses, which will conceal users’ actual IP addresses. Users will be able to access DreamStealth via a monthly subscription. DreamStealth will be available in both hardware and software forms. “The tiny hardware simply plugs into a USB input and enables authorized users to conceal their identity on any computer,” said Diebel. “The software installs onto a specific computer and creates a completely anonymous workstation.” DreamStealth is in the final stages of development and is expected to be available by the end of the year. |
